Olivieri to head ECDC

PIQUA — Holly Olivieri will take the helm of Edison Community College’s Early Child Development Center (ECDC) as director beginning Aug. 10.

Olivieri, of Troy, is a 2004 Wright State University graduate who earned a Bachelor of Science in education with a focus on early childhood education. With more than 11 years of direct experience, Olivieri is enthusiastic about her future at Edison.

“I’m really excited to have the chance to spread my wings and take my career to the next level,” said Olivieri. “Ultimately, I hope to bring innovative thinking and creative activities to the program to help children learn and grow.”

Olivieri joins Edison from Wright Field South Child Development Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where she served as program assistant director for the last five years. Prior to that, she was a training and curriculum specialist at the same center. Her previous responsibilities have included teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, budget preparation, coaching, staff training and administrative duties.

“My own children have gone through this same program, so I understand what is expected of me as director,” added Olivieri.

“Holly exhibits a passion for teaching, a positive attitude, an energetic personality, and a commitment to children and early childhood education,” said Gwen Stevenson, search committee chairwoman and dean of nursing and health sciences. “The selection committee is confident she will be an excellent head teacher and will provide the required leadership for this position.”

Edison’s Early Child Development Center is a developmental program of care and education for children 3 through kindergarten. Applications for entry into the afternoon preschool session are being accepted. The program begins Sept. 7 and will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at the college’s Piqua campus.
