SIDNEY — The Sidney Kiwanis Club presented $1,500 scholarships to two area teens recently who were named Co-teens of the Year by the club.

Sarah-Renee White and Jacob Pleiman share the honor.

This is a first for the Kiwanis Club Teen Program, and Kiwanis Club President John Coffield said the club never considered a tie-breaker.

“I just went to our board and convinced them that we must give each teen the scholarship they deserve,” he said.

White graduated from Fairlawn High School in May. She was Fairlawn’s valedictorian. Her other notable school achievements include honor roll; Honda Math Medal; John Phillip Sousa Band Award; Kiwanis Teen of the Month; Crimes Busters Third Place Medalist; Disease Detectives Second Place Medalist; and Top of the Class Awards.

She attends Bowling Green State University.

Pleiman graduated from Russia High School in May. He is the son of Greg and Rose Pleiman. He was Russia’s valedictorian. His other notable school achievements include Honda Math Medal; AP Scholar; Top Student; Father Joseph Wolfer Scholastic Athlete; and OSHAA Southwest District Student Athlete.

He is studying mechanical engingeering at the Ohio State University.
