League champion Jackson Center, the No. 2-ranked team in the state in Division 4, had the top two vote-getters ands four players in all named to the first two teams in the All-County Volleyball voting, announced recently.
Junior Cassie Meyer was the top vote-getter and earned Player of the Year honors. And senior teammate Pauline Meyer was right behind her in the voting to earn first-team all-league laurels.
Two other Lady Tigers, seniors Peyton Esser and Erin Metz were named to the second team.
Runner-up Anna had three plauyers named, two to the first team and one to the second, and Fort Loramie had two named, one to each team.
There was one player named from Fairlawn, Russia, Botkins and Houstojn to complete the squad.
First team
Cassie Meyer, junior, Jackson Center — Meyer led the Lady Tigers with 292 kills during the regular season, and her devastating jump serve resulted in an area-high 57 aces. She also had 236 digs in leaqding the Lady Tigers to an 11-1 County mark.
Pauline Meyer, junior, Jackson Center — Meyer was second on her team in kills with 143 and third in digs with 192 this season.
Audrey Francis, junior, Fairlawn — Francis led the way for the Lady Jets this season, with 340 kills and 471 digs.
Sarah Bettinger, senior, Anna — Bettinger was a strong player at the net, and second on the team with 180 kills during the regular season.
Caleigh Barhorst, junior, Fort Loramie — A key player in Fort Loramie’s run to the state chamnpionship last seaason, Barhorst followed that up with another outstanding season. Going into tournament play, she had 278 kills, 43 ace serves and 160 digs.
Elizabeth Landis, senior, Anna — Landis was the setter for the runner-up Lady Rockets this seaosn, and had614 assists. She also had 172 digs and served 41 aces during the season.
Second team
Cassie Pleiman, senior, Russia — Pleiman was a defensive specialist for the Lady Raiders, and it showed in her 446 digs for the entire season. That is a new single-season record at Russia. She also had 23 ace serves.
Peyton Esser, senior, Jackson Center — Esser ewas the defense leader for the league champion Lady Tigers, finishing the regular campaign with 310 digs.
Erin Metz, senior, Jackson Center — Metz had 101 kills this season and led the team in solo blocks with 40.
Sami Vehorn, senior, Botkins — Vehorn had an excellent season for the Lady Trojans. Going into tournament play, she had 198 kills, 112 digs and 46 total blocks, including 12 solo. She also had 34 aces.
Jenna Winner, senior, Houston — Winner is Houston’s kill leader, with 132 going into action this week. She also had 153 digs and 23 ace serves.
Taylor Ernst, junior, Fort Loramie — Ernst is a defensive specialist for the Lady Redskins. She had 150 digs to her credit heading into tournament play, as well as 14 aces.
Krista Gehret, junior, Anna — Gehret is another strong net player for the Lady Rockets. She led the team in kills during the regular campaign with 222.
Honorable Mention
There were six more players who received Honorable Mention status. They were as follows:
