PIQUA — In the opening game of the Green Bracket of the Buckeye Insurance Group Holiday Boys Basketball Classic Tuesday at Piqua Tuesday, it was Troy Christian who got the better of it in the first half, before the Cavaliers turned the tables in the second half for a 58-49 victory.
Lehman, 2-4, will play Russia in the championship game at 7 p.m. tonight. Russia beat Covington 71-64 Tuesday.
Troy Christian had taken a 12-point lead at 32-20 early in the third quarter when Seth Wynne made a basket and Chase Hayden made a free throw. But Lehman outscored them 38-17 the rest of the way.
“The difference was we got in foul trouble in the first half,” Lehman coach Tim Gleason said. “We have a philosophy that you get two fouls, you are done for the half and we had three main players with two fouls. In the second half, we were able to come out and step up the pressure again, and create some easy baskets.”
Michael Bunker scored seven points inside in the third quarter for the Cavs, with Kameron Lee scoring three big baskets in the fourth quarter and Ben Frantz hitting a big three.
Hayden had a steal and layup with 3:15 to go to get the Eagles within 47-45, before Dylan Arnold tipped in a rebound as he was fouled. He missed the free throw, but Lee scored four straight points to make it 53-45 and Troy Christian could never get closer than six the rest of the way.
Arnold led Lehman with 22 points and six rebounds. Frantz scored 10 points and Bunker grabbed seven rebounds.
Lehman was 22 of 43 from the floor and nine of 20 from the line, while Troy Christian was 16 of 50 from the floor and 14 of 18 from the line. Lehman won the battle of the boards 31-27 and had 28 turnovers to Troy Christian’s 25.

Fairlawn 65, Delphos Jeff. 63
ROCKFORD — Fairlawn will play for the championship of the Parkway Holiday Tournament tonight after a big rally in the final period brought them from behind to nip Delphos Jefferson in the semifinals Tuesday night, 65-63.
The Jets are now 6-4 and will play either Parkway or Hardin Northern in tonight’s second game.
The Jets trailed throughout, including 49-42 after three periods. But they exploded in the final period to ourscore the Wildcats 23-14.
“They just maintained a relentless effort,” coach Justin Tidwell said of his team. “They never stopped battling. We started to be patient against their zone and had good ball reversal. And that opened up some shots for us.”
Nathan Lessing finished with 31 points and seven rebounds to lead the Jets in both categories. Luke Hickman had six points, six rebounds and five assists.

Jackson Center 55, Col. Grove 50
JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center battled foul trouble all night long, but had enough to get past Columbus Grove in non-league boys basketball Tuesday, 55-50.
The win put the Tigers at 8-0 on the season heading into a big game Saturday night at Anna.
The Tigers’ big man Brady Wildermuth was in foul trouble much of the night, and fouled out with still 3:30 remaining in the game and Jackson up just one. He went to the bench after scoring 22 points.
“It was really the first game where we had to battle foul trouble,” said JC coach Scott Elchert. “The rest of the guys did a good job when Brady went out.”
Drew Sosby and Ethan Zorn both added 12 for the Tigers.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Rangers edged St. Marys 51-50 in a non-league thriller at New Knoxville Tuesday.
The Rangers are now 3-5 on the season.
The Rangers trailed by five after three periods but outscored the Roughriders 14-8 in the final period.
Logan Leffel finished with 21 for the Rangers and Nick Topp added 12. Leffel had five three-pointers.

VERSAILLES — Versailles trailed the Anna Rockets most of the way, but dominated the overtime to come away with a 62-54 win in the semifinals of the Versailles Holiday Tournament.
Versailles is now 8-1 and will play Chaminade tonight in the championship.
The Rockets saw their five-game winning streak snapped and are now 6-3 going into the consolation game tonight against Miami East.
Cody Flesher had 16 to lead Anna, Nate Frilling came off the bench to score 12 and Wyatt Bensman had 10.
Justin Ahrens had 28 for the Tigers.
