A fast-pitch softball skills clinic is being offered to Shelby County girls in grades 7 to 12.

The clinic will be held next Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the APEX Sports Zone, 1425 Vandemark Road in Sidney.

The instructor for the clinic is Karen Linder, former Kent State University and Ashland University head coach, and a four-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year.

The instructions being offered will include throwing, fielding techniques, footwork, defensive drills, hitting, bunting and base running.

Mental training techniques will also be addressed, including goals, visualiation, focus, routines and self-talk.

The clinic is open to the first 30 Shelby County players to sign up.
