BOTKINS — The Botkins Local School Board of Education met Monday night and discussed plans for the completion of the track.

Garmann/Miller drew up an idea for plans on how to make the space handicap accessible with the addition of 200 bleacher seats and a building to store equipment, restrooms, and a concession stand in. The board liked the plan; the issue comes with finding a way to fund the project.

The information on the costs will be presented to the boosters next month so maybe a fundraising campaign can be started.

The board also heard updates on the building. They continue to work on completing minor items with the building project. The cameras/lights will be installed on the north parking lot. The electrical outlets for bus plug-ins have been installed on the west parking lot of the school. Still issues with the boiler system in the athletic complex.

They heard a presentation by Ashlee Zimpfer and Carrie Topp concerning adding a Learning Trail with stations for primary students. The learning trail will be in honor of Cara Meyer and paid for with money collected by the kindergarten class. A plan is in the works to gather supplies. It would be located near the playground.

Ryan Gutman and National Honor Society officers Jared Goubeaux and Taylor Doseck discussed their service project to Booneville, Kentucky.

Also at the meeting, the board:

• Approved the treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report, and cash balance report as presented.
