ANNA — On Palm Sunday, combined choirs from the Botkins and Anna United Methodist churches presented a musical reminder of the Easter story for all ages by all ages. The program included both the Children’s choir and Chancel choir. Anna United Methodist Church hosted the service.

The Children’s choir, made up of 29 members from Anna UMC and Botkins UMC , included children from preschool age to fourth-grade. They presented a mini Cantata entitled “Oh, Now I See!” The Cantata included both script and musical numbers to convey the message. Musical talents were showcased by several soloists and a trio.

When the children finished, the Chancel Choir presented “He Is Not Here.” This was a musical retelling of the events of Holy Week. Between each song there were scripture readings of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Together, the songs and readings reminded all that even in the midst of the celebration of Palm Sunday, Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen to him by the end of the week.

For the final number, the children joined the adults to sing “Jesus Saves.” This was the reminder that as people celebrate Easter and remember the sacrifice Jesus made on their behalf, they are saved through his sacrificial act.
