SIDNEY — The medical staff of Wilson Health has announced its eighth annual Physician Memorial Scholarship.

Established following the death of Dr. Bruce C. Urbanc in 2008, the Physician Memorial Scholarship is a joint effort of the Wilson Health medical staff and Wilson Health. Applications are available by contacting the Human Resources Department, 498-5505, or the Wilson Health website, www.wilsonhealth.org, under Career Opportunities, Physician Memorial Scholarship Fund. Applications should be submitted by June 3.

“The Physician Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a fully accredited school of medicine or osteopathic medicine in the continental U.S.,” said Dr. Robert McDevitt, Wilson’s chief of staff. “Awards will be made to outstanding students who have demonstrated academic excellence and who show definite need.” Applicants must be graduates of a Shelby County high school.

“We will award up to $2,000 to the chosen applicant,” McDevitt said. A subcommittee of the Medical Staff Executive Committee will make the decision about who gets the award.
