Staff report

URBANA — Sidney plated six runs in the top of the first and went on to run-rule the Urbana Hillclimbers in non-league baseball action Saturday on the road, 15-3 in five innings.

The win was the second in a row for the Jackets and puts them at 2-3 on the year.

Sidney added a run in the third and then made sure the game wouldn’t go past five innings on a cold and blustery day by putting up eight more in the fourth.

Despite the conditions, the Jacket bats were alive. Sidney finished with 17 hits in the game, including three apiece by Austin McLain, Kaine Fisher and Jacob Cooper.

Cole Hofmann, Conor Beer and Tristen Carlson all added two hits.

Cooper scored three times and Hofmann, Beer, Fisher and Carlson all scored twice. In addition, five players drove in two runs apiece, including Cooper, Hofmann, Fisher, Carlson and A.J. Brussell.

Hofmann, Fischer and Damien Duff all had doubles.

Zane Walker went all five innings for the Jackets on a two-hitter, with three strikeouts and just one walk.

SIDNEY — Lehman scored in every inning in routing Lima Perry in Northwest Central Conference action Saturday at Lehman, 14-4.

It was Lehman’s second win of the season in as many games, both coming against Perry to put the Cavs at 2-0 in the NWCC.

Parker Riley gave up three straight hits to start the game, then settled down and went all five innings for the Cavs. He fanned three and walked one.

“Parker did a good job of not letting it get away in the first,” said King. “After giving up three straight hits to start the game, he only allowed one run in the inning. And we made some nice plays behind him.”

Lehman came back with two in the first, then added three in the second and four in the third to take control.

Dylan Arnold, Tyler Lachey and Riley all had three hits and doubled for the Cavs. Max Schutt had two singles, and Nate Bosway, Brandon Barhorst and Stephen Monnin all doubled.
