Anna Education Foundation Banquet set for April 14

ANNA — The 22nd Anna Education Foundation Banquet will be held at the Shelby Oaks Golf Course on Thursday, April 14, beginning with the social at 6 p.m. and the dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Over $50,000 will be presented to the graduating seniors of the Class of 2016 thanks to the generosity of Anna staff members, community donors, and individuals and families making specific bequests. The AEF also supports other worthwhile educational projects.

Capt. Guy D. Gruters will be the guest speaker for the evening. Capt. Gruters volunteered for Vietnam and served six years, more than five as a POW. He completed over 400 combat missions as a FAC, first for the 173rd Airborne Brigade flying O-1 aircraft and then flying F-100s for the MISTY Fast FACS flying over North Vietnam. He was awarded more than 30 combat awards including two Silver Stars, two DFCs, two purple hearts, two bronze stars for valor, a Presidential Unit Citation, POW medal, 20 air medals, and numerous other medals.

Anna graduates Denny Sollmann (Class of 1968) and Travis Rhyan (Class of 1996) will be the Anna Alumni speakers for the evening.
