FORT LORAMIE — The Russia Lady Raiders handed Fort Loramie its first loss of the season in a cold and windy battle Monday in County softball action, 12-6 in six innings.

Russia, 1-0 in the league and 3-1 overall after the win, led 7-2 after five innings, then scored five in the sixth. When Loramie didn’t score in the bottom of the inning, it was a run-rule.

“Russia got contributions from up and down their lineup,” said Loramie coach Brad Turner. “They made some nice defensive plays to stop us any time we seemed to get anything going.”

Lexi Monnin had a big day at the plate for Russia, with three hits, including two doubles. She also scored four runs. Maddie Borchers and J. Cordonnier also doubled for Russia.

Borchers went the distance for Russia on a five-hitter, striking out six and walking none.

Fort Loramie got a double from Holly Frey.
