Sidney lawyers to be honored

COLUMBUS — The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Dayton, April 14, to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession and to honor area attorneys.

Cincinnati attorney John D. Holschuh Jr. will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 2 at the Crowne Plaza Dayton, 33 E. Fifth St. OSBA District 2 comprises 1,192 members who practice in Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties.

An optional two and a half-hour continuing legal education professional conduct seminar will be offered before the luncheon, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The luncheon meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m., and Kermit F. Lowery, Dayton Bar Association president, will deliver welcoming remarks. Judge James F. Stevenson, District 11 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will include the election of two members to the OSBA Council of Delegates. As part of the luncheon meeting, a one-hour bonus continuing legal education panel discussion on access to justice issues will be offered.

Irvin G. Bieser Jr., of Dayton, Rodney R. Blake Jr., formerly of Sidney, Richard J. Chernesky, of Dayton, Harry N. Faulkner, of Sidney, James B. Hochman, of Moraine, Richard M. Hunt of Dayton, James Roger O’Donnell, of Covington, Marilyn J. Reid, of Beavercreek, Charles W. Slicer, of Dayton, and Paul J. Winterhalter, of Dayton, will be recognized for their 50 years in practice. Richard C. Scharrer, of Kettering, and Edward M. Taylor Jr., of Dayton, will be recognized for their 65 years in the practice of law. In addition, the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under will be presented to attorney Michael P. Brush, of Dayton. Advance luncheon registration is $27 for members, $32 for nonmembers and free for young lawyers. Advance seminar registration is $75 for members, $95 for nonmembers and free for young lawyers. After April 7, $25 will be added to the total registration fee.
