SIDNEY — Shelby County United Way’s sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.

“We are proud to announce Shelby County United Way has earned our third consecutive 4-Star rating,” said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and the other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. Only 14 percent of the charities we rate have received at least three consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Shelby County United Way outperforms most other charities in America. This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Shelby County United Way from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, we are honored to have earned Charity Navigator’s highest recognition for the third consecutive year.
