SIDNEY — The Lehman Cavaliers plated 14 runs in the bottom of the first and went on to run-rule Lima Temple Christian Tuesday in Northwest Central Conference baseball action at Lehman, 20-0.

The win kept the Cavaliers unbeaten on the season at 4-0, and put them at 3-0 in the NWCC.

“It was nice to get back on the field,” said head coach Dave King of the Cavaliers, who like the rest of the teams in the county and area, hadn’t played in a while because of the bad weather. “We came out strong and took advantage of 12 walks, and we were able to get a lot of kids some playing time.”

King began substituting in the second inning after the huge first frame.

The Cavs added four more in the second for an 18-0 bulge.

Max Schutt, Owen Smith and Stephen Monnin led Lehman’s 13-hit attack with two hits apiece. Schutt, Smith and Bryce Kennedy all had doubles.

Kennedy, Schutt, Monnin, Parker Riley, Nate Bosway, Brandon Simmons and Brandon Barhorst all had two hits apiece, and Monnin, Bosway and Barhorst all drove in two runs each.

Riley started and got the win for the Cavaliers, going the first three inings. He combined with Schutt and Dylan Arnold to strike out 10 Temple Christian hitters and walk just one.

The Cavs are back in action Wednesday at Lima Catholic.
