RUSSIA — Lehman’s new softball field was too wet from all the rain, so the Lady Cavs’ game with Russia was moved to the Lady Raiders’ field Tuesday in high school action.

Russia outscored Russia 4-3 over the first two innings, but the Lady Raiders broke through for six runs in the third.

Lehman chipped away and cut it to 10-7 with two in the top of the sixth, but Russia responded with seven in the bottom of the seventh to make it 17-9, which is how it ended.

Russia goes to 4-2 on the year. Lehman falls to the same mark.

Maria Herron had a big day for Russia, with four hits, three of them being doubles. Lexi Monnin had two singles and a double and Grace Saunders had two hits.

Lehman’s Grace Monnin was outstanding. The freshman had five of Lehman’s nine hits, including a double and a triple.

The linescore:

Lehman`130 202 0—9`9`4

Russia`216 017 x—17`14`6

WP: Borchers; LP: Kirtley

Records: Both teams 4-2.

HOUSTON — Likewise, the Houston-Botkins game was moved to a drier field Tuesday, and that was Houston.

And it was over in a hurry, with the host Lady Wildcats plating 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning on their way to a 20-0 blanking of the Lady Trojans in County play.

Houston is 3-2 overall, and all three wins have come in County play against no losses.

It was a day of firsts for Houston — pitcher Emilee Foster finished with a five-inning no-hitter in her first varsity start, and teammate Sarah Monnier hit her first home run, and it was a grand slam. She had two hits and finished with six runs batted in.

Foster, who struck out nine, had a double and scored three times, Macey Stang singled and tripled, and Rebekah New had two singles.
