SIDNEY — Scott Barr, Shelby County United Way executive director, has announced the 2016 campaign chair will be Shelly Ginter.

“Shelly is a proven leader that is committed to seeing Shelby County be a great community for all. She has an extensive history of volunteerism and will be a dynamic leader for our 2016 campaign. I look forward to working with her and the campaign team.”

Ginter is the current POWER chair. POWER is the Shelby County United Way’s Women’s Initiative. Their mission is to build a powerful force of women philanthropists who develop resources, unite in service and are advocates for programs and initiatives that benefit children and their families in Shelby County. This will be her first time serving in a campaign capacity.

Ginter is vice president, treasury management business consultant at US Bank, where she has been employed for 10 years. She is an active volunteer in the community. In addition to leading POWER, Ginter is the treasurer of the Fairlawn Music Boosters, a member of the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA Foundation Committee and chair the of the Fairlawn Festival Fundraising Committee.

Previously, she has volunteered for 14 years at the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA. She has served as a board member and chaired the membership and child care committees. She and her husband, Gary, have three children.

“Making a difference starts at home, and in my opinion, home is a bigger place than the four walls I retreat to at night,” said Ginter. “Shelby County has helped me raise a family, educate my children and build a professional career. I have valued every moment along the way. This year it is my turn to give back, back to the Community where I live, work and play every day. I am excited to be a part of making a positive difference for someone else.”

The 2016 campaign goal is $1,325,000. This year’s campaign will kick off on Sept. 8 at The Palazzo in Botkins.
