JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Board of Education met Monday and accepted donations.

The board accepted donations from Brokers Real Estate in the amount of $300 and from Doug Meyer in the amount of $498.23 for shirts and equipment for the girls softball program.

Also at the meeting they accepted a Memorandum of Understanding between Jackson Center Schools and The Shelby County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Shelby Hills) for the 2016-2017 school year, as well as an Athletic Training Services Agreement with Wilson Health Sports Medicine until July 2021.

The board approved the graduating class of 2016, pending completion of all requirements, and approved the early graduation of Christopher Mangus pending completion of all requirements.

They accepted the financial report as presented. Projected revenues and expenditures for the year continue to generally reflect what was forecasted. Revenues are, collectively, slightly higher and expenditures are slightly lower than projected. Revenue is also projected to exceed expenditures for the fiscal year ending June, 2016.

High School Principal Jeff Reese provided an update on the study being done on a future 1:1 student technology strategy. The current outlook is to equip teachers with the preferred technology in 2016-17 in order to develop their proficiency and to receive feedback.

An update was provided by Superintendent Bill Reichert on the new building construction. Crews have begun the initial excavation activities and a majority of bids will be reviewed this week with the exception of loose furnishings, which will occur after a furniture fair for staff is conducted in late May.

The next board meeting will be May 16, at 7 p.m.
