SIDNEY — Anita Miller, executive director of Fair Haven, was the presenter to the Rotary Club of Sidney on March 28.

Her topic was the future renovation and additional new building for Fair Haven, the county-owned rehabilitation and retirement home. The current building was built in 1969. There were renovations and additions in the ’70s and ’80s and ’90s.

Freytag and Associates of Sidney will design the project, which will include the addition of 51 private rooms and renovation of the remaining rooms to convert to single status with updated ammenities. Phase two will add additional rooms. The original facility has “good bones” as Miller said, “which we will reuse and repurpose.”

The new rooms will be approximately 210 square feet each, with each room having its own bathroom. The rooms will include French doors opening to an outdoor but enclosed area. The rooms are designed to accommodate rehabilitation activities, which have become an ever increasing percentage of resident needs, Miller said.
