KETTERING — Amy McKee, of Houston, a student at the School of Advertising Art (SAA) in Kettering, was a member of the school team which placed second in a recent advertising competition.

The graphic design college team participated in the American Advertising Federation District 5 national Student Advertising Competition against teams from colleges and universities in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

They presented advertising campaigns for this year’s contest sponsor, Snapple.

A team from the University of Kentucky placed first.

“We selected a team of 20 of our top second-year students to compete in this elite academic competition,” said Jessica Barry, president at SAA. “The judges were thoroughly impressed with the professionalism the team exhibited during their presentation.”

Each year the American Advertising Federation (AAF) partners with a national brand to challenge over 200 college chapters across the country to develop an integrated marketing campaign. The corporate sponsor provides a case study outlining their campaign objective, history, and current marketing plan. Students must research the brand and its competition and collaborate to create a completely integrated marketing campaign. After submitting a written marketing plan to AAF headquarters in Washington, DC, each team pitches their campaign to a panel of industry judges, including a representative from the sponsoring brand, starting at their NSAC district competition.
