BOTKINS — Houston rolled to its sixth straight County win against no losses in girls softball action Monday night, routing Botkins 31-4 in a game that saw five Lady Wildcats get inside-the-park home runs.

Houston is now 10-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

In addition to the inside-the-park home runs, which was no doubt a school record, two girls also hit for the cycle, and longtime head coach Brent New thinks it’s the first time in program history that anyone has done that.

Both Brittney Timmerman and Jessica Monnier singled, doubled, tripled and homered, with neither homer leaving the park.

Jenna Jarrett, Abby White and Grace Riffell had the other three homers.

In addition, senior Macey Stang scored two runs to give her 124 runs for her career, a new school record.

Jarrett also had a triple to go with her home run, Emily Foster singled twice and doubled, Rebekah New singled and doubled, and winning pitcher Judith Felver tripled.

Botkins actually led 4-3 after the first inning, but Houston came up in the top of the second and scored 11 runs. The Lady Wildcats had 23 hits in the game.

Troy 10, Sidney 0

SIDNEY — Sidney’s 10-0 loss to visiting Troy left head coach Wade New scratching his head when it was over.

Troy pitcher Henson threw a no-hitter against the Lady Jackets, although she struck out only two. Sidney’s Grace Shell, by contrast, struck out 10, but gave up 12 hits, including four home runs.

“We hit the ball hard but right at somebody all night,” said New. “Grace pitched well, but gave up too many home runs. And when they hit the ball, it always found a hole.”

The loss dropped Sidney to 3-4 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference North and put them 8-7 overall heading into a Tuesday rematch.
