DEGRAFF — A masterful pitching performance by Parker Riley gave the Lehman Cavaliers sole possession of first place in the Northwest Central Conference Tuesday in a 4-0 blanking of the Riverside Pirates in a key conference game at Riverside.

The win puts the Cavaliers at 9-0 in the NWCC and 13-1 overall. Riverside lost for only the second time this season and is now 14-2 overall and 9-1 in the conference.

Riley went all seven innings and allowed the Pirates just three singles. He struck out three and did not walk anyone. And as further evidence of his dominance, Riverside left only four runners on base the entire game.

“Parker was superb,” said Lehman head coach Dave King. “Both pitchers did well. Riverside has a very, very good team and Parker gave us what we needed. And he got excellent defensive support behind him.”

Lehman broke a scoreless tie with three in the top of the third, aided greatly by three of Riverside’s four errors in the game. The Cavs also had three of their five hits in that inning.

It stayed at 3-0 until the top of the seventh, when the Cavs added an insurance run.

Nate Bosway had two hits and drove in two runs, and Brandon Barhorst singled and doubled.

Riverside’s Dakota Bollinger was the tough-luck loser. He allowed just five hits, struck out seven and walked three.

The two teams will meet in a rematch Thursday at Lehman, with the Pirates trying to pull even in the standings again,
