County athletes off to goodstart in Division 3 district

WEST MILTON — The Division 3 District Track Meet got underway Tuesday afternoon at West Milton, with the top four finishers in each final advancing on to the regional meet next week.

When it was over, a lot of county athletes earned a spot in next week’s meet.

There were finals held in seven events, including both the boys and girls 3200 relays as well as three field events for boys and two for girls.

The 3200 relays were dominated by County teams, with four of the eight qualifying spots being taken.

The Fort Loramie boys won the race in 8:22.48 with the team of Alan Holdheide, Joe Ballas, Jake Rethman and Tom Ballas. And in third and also advancing was Botkins, with the team of Cameron Flora, Aaron Fullenkamp, Konner Burmeister and Austin Fullenkamp. They ran an 8:36.52.

And in the girls 3200 relay, Russia was first in 9:40.31 with the team of Lauren Heaton, Molly Kearns, Shae Goubeaux and Grace York. Finishing third was Botkins in 9:43.52 with the team of Kayla Heuker, Hannah Bailey, Adriana Jutte and Chloe Flora.

In the boys field events, Josh Miller of Botkins won the discus with a toss of 146-8. And in the girls field events, Botkins freshman Grace Homan was first in the shot put at 37-7.

The meet concludes on Saturday.

Pole vault — 2. Alan Holdheide, Loramie, 13-6; 4. Cole Tebbe, Russia, 11-6.

Long jump — 4. Zach McKee, Houston, 18-11.25.

GIRLS

3200 relay — 1. Russia (Lauren Heaton, Molly Kearns, Shae Goubeaux, Grace York) 9:40.31; 3. Botkins (Kayla Heuker, Hannah Bailey, Ariana Jutte, Chloe Flora) 9:43.52.

Shot put — 1. Grace Homan, Botkins, 37-7; 2. Kassie Lee, Lehman, 36-10.5; 4. Claire Spicer, Anna, 35-8.5.

High jump — 1. Caity Falls, Houston, 5-0; 2. Andrea Meyer, Loramie, 5-0.
