She holds both the single season and career records for home runs and runs scored at Houston. She was named second-team All-County as a sophomore, and first team both last season and this season.

This season, she is hitting .488 for the Lady Wildcats, who won a share of the County championship. Going into this week’s tournament play, Hensley had 39 hits, scored 35 runs, has a four homers and 23 runs batted in.

She is the daughter of Christopher Hensley and Jennifer Schumacher.

• Russia senior Caleb Ball announced recently that he has signed to run cross country at Division 1 Ohio University.

He is the son of Mark and Deanna Ball and is currently in the midst of track season at Russia.

In cross country as a freshman, Ball finished 92nd at the state meet, and improved to 54th as a sophomore. He was 58th as a year, even though he improved his time by eight seconds. Then last fall as a senior, he just missed earning All-Ohio honors by placing 27th in 16:31.6. Last fall, Ball ran a 16:16. He owns the third-fastest time in school history.

Ball will also run track at OU, although it is an unofficial sport because of Title IX.

• Fort Loramie senior standout Holly Frey has signed to play basketball next season for Edison Community College in Piqua.

Frey was a key player in Fort Loramie’s state championship season of 2015. In the championship game in Columbus, she finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, after getting 8 and 7 in the semifinals.

She was voted All-County her junior and senior seasons. Last season, she averaged 9.9 points and a team-high 5.5 rebounds per game, while leading the team in field goal percentage at 61.

“I’m very excited to have Holly joining our team,” said Edison coach Tim McMahon. “She comes from a great program where she worked hard and was very coachable. She will be a great asset to our program.”
