Botkins BOE awards bleacher bid

BOTKINS — At a recent special meeting of the Botkins Board of Education, the board moved to accept the bid from Wells Brothers, Inc. for aluminum bleachers, concrete work, grading and draining as presented at a bid of $70,899.

Bleachers for the track in the Botkins Community Park have been in the works for several months now.

During recent regular Botkins Board of Education meeting this month the board hired several employees.

They hired Rob Berryman as Intervention Specialist for the elementary unit on a one-year contract per salary schedule. They also hired Jodi Grillot for a position yet to be assigned.

The board hired the following summer seasonal workers at $8.10 per hour: Cassie McGowan and Blake Maurer.

In addition they hired the following extracurricular employees per salary schedule:

• Brad Schmerge, assistant varsity boys basketball coach

• Daniel Schneider, assistant varsity boys soccer coach

• Heath Geyer, seventh-grade boys basketball coach

Also at the meeting the board approved the following Then and Now purchase order: Perry Pro Tech for the annual maintenance for the archiving system for $3,031.

They set the pay for substitute teachers for the 2016-17 school year at a rate of $90 per day.

They accepted the $500 donation from Aaron and Holly Lenhart to be used for Cole Field and the donation of $1,200 from the Bernard (Shorty) Steinke family in memory of Audrey Steinke to be used for the softball program.

They board set the lunch and milk prices for the 2016-17 school year as follows:

• Grades 1-6 $1.90

• Grades 7-12 $2.20

• Adult $2.90

• Kindergarten Milk $0.10

• Grades 1-3 $0.25

• Extra Milk $0.25

The school is required to raise prices a minimum of $0.10. A waiver is being sent to the State to not raise lunch prices. Ala Carte prices were also approved. Also approved the Nutrition Standards for all foods sold in the school.
