Russia BOE approves appropriations

RUSSIA — The Russia Board of Education met Wednesday and adjusted money.

A motion passed to approve temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2016 at $1,750,000.

They then approve appropriation modifications due to changes in estimated revenue certified by the Shelby County Auditor: The REAP fund was decreased by $34,980.38 and the Title I fund was decreased by $108.24.

They also approved an appropriation increase of $10,000 each for funds: 001-1900 and 001-1200.

A motion passed to approve any additional appropriation modifications as become necessary to close out the fiscal year. These modifications will be reviewed by the superintendent.

They added Fund 466 (College Credit Plus) to the fund accounts. Then increased this fund by $1,740.

In other business, the board accept the resignation of Nichole Meyer as a one-on-one aide for a student in the Anna Unit.

They also set the hourly pay rate for Tutors & IAT Team Members at $22 per hour for the 2015-16 school year and the substitute teacher salary rate at $80 per day for the 2016-17 school year.

The board accepted donations of:

• $2,000 from an anonymous donor to be used for scholarship purposes.

• $320 from the Russia Board of Education and Administration for scholarship purposes.

• $650 from Dale Goubeaux Excavating for the purchase of a soap box derby car.

• $500 from the Russia Athletic Boosters for the purchase of athletic equipment.

The board voted to employ:

• Jill Hemmelgarn and Traci Mangen-Kirner as summer school teachers at a rate of $20 per hour for the 2015-16 school year.

• Alysha Orsborne as a one-on-one aide for a Russia student at the Upper Valley Career Center at an annual rate of $13,553 for the 2016-17 school year.

• Gay Booher as Yearbook Advisor at an annual rate of $1,275 for the 2015-16 school year.

• Angie Monnin as a substitute summer school teacher at a rate of $20 per hour on an as needed basis.

• Sheila Magoto and Connie Gariety as a summer school instructional aide at a rate of $12 per hour for the 2015-16 school year on an as needed basis.

• The following bus drivers for the 2016-17 school year: Dale Alt, Jerry Barhorst, Paul Bremigan, Rodney Counts, Terry Daugherty, Tom Gariety, Carrie Heuing, Gery Heuing, Angie Lachat, Mike Meyer, Dan Millhouse, Larry Platfoot, Steve Rose, Vern Seger, and Ann Snider.

The board also employed the following certificated staff to coaching/supplemental positions for the 2016-17 school year:

• Shannon Langston, student council

• Michelle Muhlenkamp, varsity girls softball

• Bart Doseck, co-power of the pen, resident educator

• Cierra York, co-power of the pen

• Penny Elmore, FCCLA Advisor

• Mike Hart, athletic site coordinator

• Andrea Raterman, FTA advisor

• Traci Mangen-Kirner, Title I Coordinator

• Jana Salisbury, academia advisor, prom advisor, co-senior class play, blended learning, resident educator

• Chad Topp, NHS advisor

• Carrie Schulze, co-senior class play

• Marcus Petitjean, lego robotics

• Eric Sullenberger, science olympiad advisor

• Gay Booher, yearbook extended time

• Tonya Slonaker, guidance extended service

They also employed the following non-certificated staff to coaching positions for the 2016-17 school year:

• Sara Mowery, 7th and 8th grade volleyball

• Terry Daugherty, JV and varsity boys golf

• Amber Cordonnier, athletic site coordinator

They also approved the non-renewal of the following non-certificated supplemental contracts as submitted for the 2015-16 school year:

• Kevin Phlipot, varsity baseball

• Aaron Monnin, assistant varsity baseball

• Dennis Monnin, JV baseball

• Jamie Herron, assistant varsity softball

• Dan Schafer, high school boys track

• Brad Heaton, high school girls track

• Dale Alt, assistant varsity track

• Mark Travis, assistant varsity track

• Missy Seger, junior high track

• Dawn Luthman, junior high track
