SIDNEY — Local shop, Gallery 2:Ten, is moving to the former Woody’s Market location.

Owner Mila Hamilton is very excited about the move and all the opportunities it will open for the store.

Gallery 2:Ten features repurposed furniture and art by Hamilton and a variety of artists, both local and national. The new facility will offer room to expand the shop’s goods, such as the new pieces Hamilton is making from reclaimed barn wood.

“I don’t want too much of the same kinds of things, but I have several award-winning artists here. I’m an American picker, and I have a lot of stuff. People told me I need more room. I didn’t know I would be joined by more than 40 artists selling their art on consignment. I was happy to share my small space, but I needed a bigger space,” said Hamilton.

The artist has built a name for herself in the community. She began by painting murals in various homes and businesses. She has also been responsible for helping to decorate private homes and businesses, including the nearby High Grounds Cafe. She has been involved in art for the last 30 years and strives to share it with the community. She does many custom pieces and urges people to order now for Christmas. Samples of her work can be seen at www.expressionsbymila.com.

“We have a lot of inventory, and I will be rotating it. I went to a lot of art festivals in the summer and recruited a lot of people. We will feature different artists quarterly. We will, eventually, be doing more of the wine socials, where we have the artists here to talk about their work. We always want to bring Sidney up into the current, so we have to keep it going,” said Hamilton.

Gallery 2:Ten will be expanding its offerings to include wine and craft beers.

“We got the liquor license, so we now have wine, beer and craft beer. We will be doing the ‘Pick 6,’ and we have a nice selection. The ‘Pick 6’ is when you mix and match your own six pack of craft beers,” said Hamilton.

Art parties will also be available.

“We do art parties in the back studio because Woody’s took out all their walk-in refrigerators and freezers, and I have that whole back of the store for my studio, and I had my first art party there two days ago, and it was a blast,” said Hamilton.

She is happy to have moved into a building that is a local landmark and hopes to maintain its distinction in the community.

“It’s charming because it’s Woody’s Market, and it’s such a landmark for Sidney. I hope to keep it a landmark and to keep it so interesting that it’s a beautiful corner in Sidney,” said Hamilton.

A grand opening will be Nov. 3-6.

“I don’t like soft openings. I just want to go for it. We’ll have specials, but I’m saying follow me on Facebook to see what the specials are going to be and the sales and the offers,” said Hamilton.
