New Bremen junior standout Paige Jones was named the Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year in voting by the coaches announced recently, along with the all-conference team.

Jones broke a state record for kills in a season, which stood at 650. She has 763 going into today’s regional final game, and also has 120 service aces.

While she was named to the first team, sophomore hitter Rachel Kremer was named to the second team from New Bremen. Kremer has 207 kills this season.

Minster’s Jordyn Heitbrink, a senior, was also named to the first team. She led the Lady Wildcats to a 16-9 record with a team-high 266 kills and 249 digs.

Teammate Paige Thobe, a junior, was named to the second team. She had 164 kills and led the Lady Wildcats in blocks with 93, 16 of them solo.

New Knoxville senior standout Kenzie Schroer was also a first-team selection. She could do it all for the Lady Rangers, finishing with 199 kills, 21 aces, 316 digs and 490 assists.

Teammate Shayna Bierlein was named to the second team. Also a senior, Bierlein led the Lady Rangers with 258 kills and 250 digs.

Marion Local also had two named to the first team in junior Kylie Albers and sophomore Carrie Fesenmeyer. Three more Lady Flyers were named to the second team in seniors Maddie Griesdorn and Jessie Kramer and junior Kara Evers.

Versailles had two players named to the first team in sophomore Elizabeth Ording and junior Danielle Winner, and coach Kenzie Bruggeman was co-Coach of the Year along with Erica Schulze of Marion Local.
