Three complete United Way term

SIDNEY — Three members of the Shelby County United Way Board of Directors will be completing their terms at the end of December.

“We are losing three strong leaders that have made valuable contributions these past six years and helped move the organization more forward thinking and strategic in addressing and funding community needs,” said Executive Director Scott Barr.

During their terms, they provided oversight of partner agencies, chaired and were actively involved in the implementation of the Impact Program, strategic planning and implementation of the collaborative afterschool program at the Salvation Army, the implementation of Imagination Library and the implementation of Character Playbook, Building Healthy Relationships.

“I appreciate the many hours and talents they provided the United Way during their term and thank them for the support they provided me and the United Way staff,” said Barr.

Devon Beer, president of Freshway Foods, chaired the Investing in Youth and Children Allocation team. He was a member of the Finance Committee and his expertise was instrumental in evaluating and monitoring the investment portfolio performance. He is a past division leader and current account volunteer, assisting in the Annual Campaign. Freshway Foods was a Top 10 performing company in 2015 and 2016.

Mary Moyer, admissions case manager at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, served on the executive committee during her tenure on the board. She was immediate past president in 2015, board president in 2014, and first vice president in 2013. She chaired the Community Initiatives Committee, the Events and Activities Committee, and served on the marketing committee. She served on the Health and Well Being Allocation team.

Josh Ross, insurance agent at Ruese Insurance, served on the executive committee as Board secretary. He was a member of the Marketing and Community Initiatives committee. Ross served on the Enriching the Lives of Seniors and Investing in Youth and Children Allocations teams during his tenure. He served for many years as a Division Leader during the annual campaign.
