FORT LORAMIE — During the Fort Loramie Village Council regular meeting in December the council voted to approve the 2017 budget.

The 2016 total receipts were $1,190.995.49. The total receipts for the year are down $2.668.15 or 0.2 percent from the end of the year in 2015. The village was on track to exceed their budgeted amount of $1,200,000.

An update was given on the Main Street Project. Park and Main Street met warrant analysis for traffic signals. Elm and Main Street did not meet warrant analysis, however, since there is existing stop lights there, they can keep current lights there; but no federal funding would be available.

As of now, the engineering cost for traffic lights is $21,590. If the council decides to do plans for both the mast arms and the span wires, the cost would be $34,450 total. A motion was made by Ryan Simon, seconded by Tim Boerger to spend the extra money for engineering of two different types of traffic signals.

The Village will pay for driveway assessments for the Main Street project. New rules may be created regarding village paying for driveway approaches in the future.

At this time, the town will either vacate all unoccupied alleys or give the property owner the opportunity to purchase.

Thirty-five new light poles will be purchased. Decision will need to be made regarding type of light poles that they want to put up.

The council approved a resolution to set new refuse and recycling rates.

They approved the several pay raises. A $1 raise will be given to part-time police officers. A 3 percent raise will be given to all full-time employees with Tony Schmitmeyer given a 1.6 percent pay rise.

The next meeting will be held on Jan. 16, 2017 at 8 p.m. at 14 Elm St., Fort Loramie.
