Frenchtown man dies in crash

MACON, Ga. — A Frenchtown, Ohio, man was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Macon, Georgia, Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, around 8 p.m.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Arthur Francis, 65, of Frenchtown, was killed when his 2015 Volvo tractor-trailer struck the back of another truck which had stopped near the split of Interstate 16 westbound and Interstate 75 northbound.

Carlton Kiser, of Union City, Georgia, was driving a 2o11 International tractor-trailer which had been sideswiped by a 2012 Acura DMX driven by Ahn Kim Merritt, 73, of Macon, Georgia. Kiser had pulled over after the first crash and had his flashers on at the time of the second crash.

Merritt was entering the interstate from an entrance ramp when she struck Kiser’s truck. She had pulled her vehicle over on the right emergency lane.

The crash remains under investigation.
