Sidney Police investigate theft of welder

SIDNEY — The Sidney Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in locating a welder which was stolen over the holidays.

According to a press release from the police department, sometime during the holiday break between Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, and Tuesday morning of Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, someone entered the piping construction zone located in the 600 block of South Brooklyn Avenue, Sidney, and stole an industrial welder – generator apparatus valued at $14,500. The welder weighs approximately 1,700 pounds and would have required an industrial lift and vehicle to remove it from the job site. It is owned by Capital Tunneling out of Columbus, Ohio. The generator is a Lincoln Vantage 300.
