NK board sets special ed hearing

NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Board of Education will convene a public hearing, March 27, at 7 p.m. in the school media center, to get input from residents about plans for the use of federal Special Education IDEA Part B funds.

The hearing was set during the board’s regular meeting, Feb. 27.

In other action, the board:

• Hired Dwain Meckstroth as a part-time teacher, Dylan Steinke as a scoreboard operator, Kyle Merges as the junior varsity baseball coach and Marc Dyrness as a full-time custodian.

• Approved field trips by the eighth-grade class to Washington, D.C., May 7-12, and by the band to Chicago, Illinois, March 23-25, 2018.

• Approved the 2017-2018 school calendar.
