Trustees ready fish fry

SIDNEY — The Shelby County Trustees and Fiscal Officers Association will host its 41st annual all-you-can-eat fish dinner, Friday, March 31, in the Activity Building on the Shelby County Fairgrounds

Meals will be for sale from 5 p.m. until they run out — approximately 8 p.m. The cost of the meal will be $6 for adults, $3 for children 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from any Shelby County township trustee. The menu comprises fish, cole slaw or applesauce, chips, green onions and choice of bread. Soft drinks, water and beer will be available for purchase. Everything is available for carry-out as well as dining in.

There will also be a 50/50 drawing and tip books will be for sale for prizes.

The trustees fish fry, as it is familiarly known, began in 1977.

“This event runs so smoothly due to both the collaboration of all of the townships’ elected officials and the support of the community. As a result of our association’s effort, we are able to make donations to deserving groups within our communities, all while enjoying an evening of fellowship with family and friends. A big thanks goes to all of our business sponsors. Their generous donations help cover a majority of our expenses, which keeps our ticket price down and our donations sizable. In 2016, we served more than 550 dinners and are looking forward to another successful event for 2017,” said Lori Bornhorst, association secretary/treasurer.

The association’s gifts in 2016 supported the Sidney-Shelby Economic Development, Compassionate Care, Salvation Army, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, American Red Cross, Shelby County Junior Fair Board, Fairlawn FFA, Anna FFA, Sidney FFA, and Fort Loramie Livestock 4-H.

Sponsors who have provided funds to support the fish fry include Barrett Paving, Freisthler Paving, Wagner Paving, Ticon Paving and J&A Construction Corp.
