The annual Joe Ward Invitational track meet was held Tuesday night at Sidney High School, and the Dunbar boys and the Lima Senior girls claimed the team titles.

Dunbar had 139.5 points when the meet was over to beat out runner-up Trotwood’s 111.

Sidney’s boys placed fourth with 67, Russia was fifth with 62, and the Sidney B team was 13th with four points.

Sidney had two first-place finishers in the boys competition. Gavin Bockrath crossed the line first in the 3200 run, finishing in 10:29.27, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Russia’s Zach Bell was third.

And in the shot put, Devan Rogers took first place with a heave of 27 feet, 5.5 inches, over five feet further than the runner-up.

Russia’a Drew Poling had an outstanding meet. He won the discus with a throw of 134 feet, 2 inches, and also took first place in the high jump, clearing six feet event.

Sidney’s Jay Clark was second in the discus at 119-6, and Jalen Hudgins placed third in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 2 inches.

Russia’s Cole Tebbe was runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet.

Girls

The Russia girls were fifth in the final team standings with 77.5 points.

Lehman was eighth with 23, Sidney ninth with 16 and New Knoxville 13th with 6.5 points.

Russia started out with a victory in the 3200 relay in 10:10.83, with the foursome of Shae Goubeaux, Anna Fiessinger, Claire Meyer and Grace York.

York also won the 800 in 2:30.5, and Meyer won the 3200 in 12:43.68.

The 1600 relay team of Goubeaux, Maddi Moorman, and Grace and Rachel York was second in 4:28.46.

Fiessinger also took second in the 1600 in 5:45.98, with Meyer third. And Emily Bohman took third in the pole vault at 10-6.

Lehman was led by Lauren McFarland, who finished second in the long jump with a distance of 14-7. Teammate Alanna O’Leary was third in the 400 dash and fourth in the 200, and Sidney’s Mariana Kellner was third in the 3200 in 13:08.29.

Minster teams sweep

LIMA — Minster took part in a tri meet at Lima Bath and both the girls and the boys were victorious.

The Minster girls had 111.5 to 32.5 for St. Marys and 27 for Lima Bath.

For Minster, Paige Thobe won the 100 in 13.26, Courtney Prenger won the 400 in 1:04.15, Madeline Magoto won the 800 in 2:24, Emma Watcke won the 1600 in 5:21, and Kayla Schwieterman won the 300 hurdles in 56.0.

The 400 relay team of Schwieterman, Hannah Pack, Thobe and Jessica Falk won in 49.97, the 1600 relay team of Cassie Francis, Mariana Slonkosky, Schwieterman and Magoto won in 4:22.7, and the 3200 relay team of Magoto, Francis, Slonkosky and Lillian Hirschfeld won in 10:04.

Jordyn Heitbrink won the high jump at 5-2, Savanah Luthman won the shot put with a heave of 39 feet, one-half inch, and Luthman also won the discus with a distance of 108-7.

• The Minster boys had 89.5, St. Marys 60.5 and Bath 24.

For the Wildcats, Austin Felice won the 400 in 57.91, Andrew Broering won the 800 in 2:08.3, Carter Pohl was first in the 1600 in 4:59.0, and first in the 3200 in 10:53.0, and Zach Heuker won the 110 hurdles in 17.01 and the 300 hurdles in 45.2.

The 1600 relay team of Tyler Karnehm, Jon Albers, Ryan Cavanaugh and Broering was first across the line in 3:58.

Heuker made it three firsts with a win in the long jump at 18 feet, 6 inches, Max Prenger won the shot put at 44-6, and Tony Winner won the discus at 124 feet even.
