Sidney scored a run in the top of the first for the early lead, but it was all Chaminade after that in a 9-1 win over the Yellow Jackets in non-league baseball action Wednesday.

The loss left the Yellow Jackets at 1-3 to start the season, and they return to action on Friday at West Carrollton.

After Sidney scored in the top of the first, the Eagles came back with two in the second and three more in the third. The Jackets had nine hits, but could not muster any more runs the rest of the way.

Austin McLain had a big day at the plate for the Jackets, with three hits in four trips. Dillon King was 2-for-4, right on his season average of .500.

Jack Feazle added a double.

Russia 17, Minster 6

RUSSIA — Minster won by large margins in each of its first two baseball games this spring, but had the tables turned on Tuesday when the Russia Raiders rolled to a 17-6 victory in five innings over the Wildcats in non-league baseball action at Rusia.

The win put Russia at 2-0 and dropped Minster to 2-1.

Russia spotted Minster a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but plated three in the bottom of the second and added seven more in the third.

The Raiders had 13 hits in the game and were led by Drew Sherman, who was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three batted in.

Dion Puthoff was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, Kevin Drees had two hits and drove in four, and Jack Dapore had two hits.

Drees, Dylan Cordonnier and Dion Puthoff all had doubles for Russia and Bryce Schmiesing had a double for Minster.

Daniel Kearns went the first four innings for Russia and allowed just two hits while striking out five and walking five.
