Jailed man gets more prison time

SIDNEY – A 20-year-old Sidney man currently serving time in prison received an additional sentence for threatening a city police officer and his family.

Judge James Stevenson handed out sentences in several cases recently in Shelby County Common Pleas Court.

Tre Marqua Decoldest Carey, currently housed with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in Orient, was sentenced to an additional 30 months in prison on a charge of retaliation. He will serve the sentence after his current incarceration time ends.

According to court records, Carey threatened the officer after being arrested on Dec. 19, 2016, on drug charges.

• Warren J. Powers, 27, 402 Forest Ave. Apt. 2, was remanded to the custody of the Shelby County Sheriff for attempted illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility until he is admitted into the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) program in Lima.

• Catherine A. Meiring, 35, 223 Brooklyn Ave., was placed on five years of probation for attempted illegal use of supplemental nutrition assistance. She was ordered to make restitution of $3,054 and assessed court costs. She must also successfully complete drug and alcohol counseling, maintain employment, and complete the Moving On program.

• Joseph L. Overton, 29, 327 Jefferson St., was placed on five years of probation on a charge of theft. He was also ordered to pay restitution to Universal One Credit Union in the amount of $3,498, and complete drug and alcohol counseling.

• Michael McClellan, 30, 811 Arrowhead Drive, Apt. 1, received five years of probation on an attempted trespassing charge. He was fined $300 and assessed court costs. He must complete drug and alcohol counseling, and the Thinking for Change program.

• Joshua Combs, 33, 409 Jefferson St., was given five years of probation on a possession of drugs charge. He was fined $300 and assessed court costs. He must complete drug and alcohol counseling.

• Edwin L. Wilson, 42, 327 Linden Ave., was ordered to the county jail on a probation violation. He was given 14 days in jail to run concurrently with another sentence. He was granted work release privileges.

• Rahsawn Habari, 39, 1390 Fair Road, was given five years of probation for a charge of trafficking in drugs. He was fined $300 and assessed court costs, and forfeited $3,236 in cash confiscated during his arrest.

• Jackie D. Benton, 64, Ada, was placed on five years of probation for failing to comply with a police officer. He had his driver’s license suspended for three years, was fined $300 and assessed court costs. He must pay $42.86 in restitution to Ollie’s Discount Outlet in Sidney for the theft of gloves. He must successfully complete the WORTH program.

• Brooke Lynn Smith, 23, 230 Jefferson St. Apt. 30, was ordered back to the county jail to serve a 70-day sentence on a probation violation. She was granted work release privileges.
