Staff report

The Sidney Yellow Jackets not only bounced back from a loss to Greenville on Monday, but came back from a 6-1 deficit to beat the Green Wave 8-7 in eight innings in a rematch Tuesday at the high school in Greater Western Ohio Conference American North action.

The win was a welcome one for the Yellow Jackets because it snapped a 10-game losing skid. The Jackets, who lost 16-10 to Greenville on Monday, are now 6-19 heading to Fairborn Friday in their next outing.

The two teams each plated a run in the first inning, but the Green Wave then added five in the top of the second to put the Jackets in a big hole.

But they battled back with a run in the fourth and four in the fifth to knot the score up.

After Sidney took a 7-6 lead with a run in the sixth, Greenville tied it in the seventh. The Jackets finally came away with the win thanks to a run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Jackets had 10 hits in the game, with Austin McLain going 3-for-5 and Kyle Noble 2-for-4. Both had doubles.

Noble also drove in two runs and McLain and Kaden Walker both scored twice.

Conor Beer started for the Jackets and after giving up the six runs in the first two innings, he settled down and kept the Green Wave off the board in the next three. McLain relieved in the sixth and wound up the winner.
