SIDNEY — Virginia L. Young, 81, passed away, May 1, 2017, surrounded by her loving family in the Ohio Living Dorothy Love Retirement Center in Sidney.

She was born, June 21, 1935, in Troy, to the late John V. and Katherine E. (Alexander) Hufford.

She married Dillard Young Jr., Dec. 17, 1966. He preceded her in death, Feb. 23, 2013.

Virginia is survived by children and spouses, Barbara Searcy, of Sidney, Karen and Brian Gates, of Russia, Dennis and Lorie Searcy, of Anna, John and Donna Searcy, of Maplewood; 11 grandchildren, Justin Searcy, Cory Searcy, Kyle Searcy, Kelli (Zack) Freeling, Kristen (Cody) Adkins, Jacob Gates, Adam Searcy, Logan Searcy, Leah (John) Fullenkamp, Amber (Nick) Broerman, David (Ashley) Barhorst; 12 great- grandchildren, Everett Freeling, Corbin Adkins, Eliza Fullenkamp, Henry Fullenkamp, Molly Fullenkamp, Rylan Broerman, Frankie Broerman, Britton Broerman, Vera Broerman, Kaden Powell, Eva Barhorst, Keagan Hoelscher; three siblings and spouses, Mrs. Norma Jean Dulaney, Carl and Shirley Rucker, Dewey Hufford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by brothers, John V. “Buddy” Hufford, Herbert M. “Mack” Hufford, Charles R. “Bob” Hufford; and sister, Linna Leon Hufford.

Virginia was of the Methodist faith, retired from Copeland Corp., worked as manager at Sidney Goodwill and worked behind the candy counter at G. C. Murphys. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word search puzzle books, cooking and time spending with grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be Friday, May 5, 2017, at 10 a.m., in the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with the Rev. Dr. David Chivington officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.

Family and friends may call, Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
