Emerson awards scholarships

SIDNEY — Emerson has awarded scholarships to children of their employees.

Kalista Jordan-DeBruin, daughter of Sarah Jordan and Mark DeBruin, has been awarded the Emerson Corporate Scholarship. She is a graduate of Tippecanoe High School

In addition, Jordan-DeBruin was the recipient of the National Merit Scholarship Award. She was one of 10 recipients and will receive $2,500 per academic year for four years for this achievement.

Jordan-DeBruin plans to attend Texas A&M University.

Sachin Shankar, son of Suresh and Harini Shivashankar, has been awarded Emerson Corporate Scholarship. He is a graduate of Centerville High School.

Sachin has been accepted to Case Western Reserve University, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Pittsburgh and plans to study engineering.

Winners of the Emerson Corporate Scholarship receive $2,500 per academic year for four years. Selection is made based on academic performance of the applicants: grade point average and national test scores. Participation in school activities and community involvement are also considered in the selection process, as well as an endorsement form a high school official.

Elizabeth Pax, daughter of Dennis and Kristine Pax, has been awarded the Emerson Climate Technologies Inc. Scholarship.

Pax plans to attend the University of Dayton to study physical therapy.

Luke Johnson, son of Micah and Vickie Johnson, has been awarded the Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. Scholarship.

They are the two recipients of the scholarship, which is awarded annually to children of Emerson employees in Sidney, Ohio. He is a graduate of Troy High school.

Johnson plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to study mechanical engineering.

Winners of the Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. Scholarship receive $2,500 per academic year each year of a four-year undergraduate degree program. Selection is made based on academic performance, character and leadership qualities, and participation in extra-curricular activities.

Shaelyn Goubeaux, daughter of Wes and Chandra Goubeaux, has been awarded the Rudolf G. Berg Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to one applicant annually, and is available to all high school seniors in Shelby County schools and the Upper Valley Career Center.

A graduate of Russia High School, Goubeaux plans to attend Rhodes State College to study physical therapy assisting.

Winners of the Rudolf G. Berg Scholarship receive $2,500 for an undergraduate degree program. Selection is made based on academic performance and character.
