Loramie edges Minster to open golf season

Fort Loramie edged Minster to open the boys golf season Friday at Arrowhead, with the Redskins prevailing 179-181.

For Loramie, Shea Swick and Craig Eilerman led the way, each with a 42, while Mitchell Puthoff had a 45 and Zach Pleiman and Eli Rosengarten each carded a 50.

Adam Knapke paced the Wildcats and took medalist honors with a 41 while Logan Lazier shot a 45, Grant Voisard 47 and Grant Koenig 48.

The two teams also had a junior varsity match, with Minster winning 209-215. The medalist was Minster’s Joseph Magoto with a 43 while Jared Middendorf posted the low Loramie score with a 48.

Fairlawn also opened its season on Friday, falling to Troy Christian at Shelby Oaks 196-207.

Jackson Jones led the way for the Jets as he earned medalist honors with a 47. Luke Hickman shot a 48, Chester Hughes 54 and Kyle Peters 58.

Both Fairlawn and Fort Loramie are back in action Monday with the Shelby County League preview at Shelby Oaks while Minster will take part in the New Bremen Cardinal Invitational on Tuesday.
