Accident claims life of Antwerp woman

WAPAKONETA — An Antwerp woman died Saturday afternoon when her vehicle was struck by a semi-truck.

At approximately 1:03 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a Mercury Sable driven by 24-year-old Bethany Rose Reinhart was northbound on the Interstate 75 exit ramp at US 33. Reinhart failed to stop at the bottom of the exit ramp at the intersection of US 33. She proceeded to turn westbound on US 33 into the path of an eastbound semi driven by Charles M. Ball, 70, of Columbus.

Both vehicles came to rest off the north side of US 33. Ball was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Reinhart was pronounced dead at the scene by the Auglaize County Coroner’s office.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and there was no apparent signs of drug or alcohol use. The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wapakoneta Fire and the Wapakoneta Emergency Medical Squad.
