Board approves personnel contracts

SIDNEY — Personnel for the 2017-18 school year was hired during the recent Midwest Regional Educational Service Center’s governing board meeting.

But, before hiring the substitutes, the board approved the resignations of Amy Estep and Shelia Dearwester, both educational aides, Hilary Davis, academic adviser, and Tracy Dush, psychologist.

Hired as substitute teachers were Alyssia Cavallini, Michael Van Brocklin, Sherry Diller, Philip Forsythe, Amy Godwin, Sandra Hall, Stacy Hamlin, Leanne Hittle, Emily Kaster, Mike Louden, Christine Miller, Katelyn Roby, Rosa Rojas, Broaddus Shamlin, Sarah Skidmore, Sheridon Storm and Mark Travis for Russia LSD.

Hired as substitute aides were Ashley Brentlinger, Kristen Clark, Shelia Dearwester, Sherry Diller, Sherry Leis and Katelyn Roby.

Non-teaching contracts were awarded to Kendra Calanchini, one-on-one aide, $13.46 per hour; Morgan Kaser, SWD unit instructional assistant, $9.97 per hour; Kathryn Lewis, bus aide monitor, $11.81 per hour; Julie Messenger, bus aide monitor, $11.66 per hour, and SWD unit instructional assistant, $11.66 per hour; Lisa Phlipot, one-on-one aide, $12.31 per hour; and Christina Shaffer, bus aide monitor, $10.27 per hour.

Supplemental contracts were awarded to Lori Berger, supervise related service personnel, $3,500; Penny Carrig, absence management for Shelby County Board off DD and Hardin County Board of DD, $1,200; Teresa Featheringham, support work for FY18 21st Century Grant consultants, $2,600; Michelle Poeppelman, extended school day work, $14.38 per hour; David Shellhaas, curriculum service for Upper Scioto Valley and Hardin Northern, $376.03 per day with a maximum of 10 days; and Brandon Unger, summer speech at Russia LSD, $46.96 per hour.

The board also approved service agreements with Benjamin Logan Local, Raider Care Aide and one-on-one aide; Fort Loramie Local, professional development; Hardin County Board of DD, special education supervision; Hardin County Board of DD, preschool EMIS support; Hardin-Houston Local Schools, technology instructor and one-on-one aide for half year; Indian Lake Local Schools, five one-on-one aides and three bus aides; and Russia Local Schools, summer speech and physical education teacher.

Purchased service and independent contractor agreements were also approved with Elizabeth Cartr, VLA lab monitor, $15 per hour with a maximum of 612 hours; Laurie Jo Cook, 21st Century Grant coordinator for Indian Lake Local School District, $30,000; Gail Dafler, gudiance counseling at the Opportunity school, $7,000, and fall parent project facilitator, $820; Dixie Durkee, Workforce Partnership coordinator for Indian Lake School, $3,480; Donna Furrow, Workforce Partnership coordinator for Indian Lake School, $6,990; Chad Gessler, fall parent project coordinator, $2,000; Dennis Recker, external evaluator for 21st Century Grants (four grants), $1,500 and $200 mileage for each grant; Kay Rose, fall parent project facilitator, $820; Susan Shultz, 21st Century Grant coordinator for Riverside Local School, $30,000; Greg Snyder, algebra II tutoring for Opportunity School, $1,500, and detailed external evaluation report for alternative/challenge grant data, $1,500; Kevin Stapleton, fall parent project facilitator, $820; Jacqueline Strahley, 21st Century Grant site manager for Indian Lake School, $19,500; Charles tucker, fall parent project facilitator, $820; Greg Ward, consultant and professional development for Opportunity School, $3,680; and Helen Ward, 21st Century Grant coordinator for Opportunity School, $30,000.

In other business, the board:

• Accepted Logan County Board of DD business associate degree.
• Accepted the first amended agreement for the Logan County School Employee Consortium.
• Approved the 2017-18 rental agreement with Sidney-Shelby County YMCA for parent project meetings.
• Was introduced to Meaghen Tidwell, director of special education, who will be located at Indian Lake Schools.
• Was updated on financial reports by Treasurer Keith Thomas.
• Went into executive session, no action was taken.
The board’s next meeting will be Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Upper Scioto Valley School.
