Sixth Ave. fire ruled unintentional, electrical

SIDNEY — A Sunday evening fire on Sixth Avenue has been deemed unintentional and electrical in nature by the Sidney Fire Department investigator.

Sidney firefighters were dispatched to 338 Sixth Ave. at 9:19 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, for a report of a structure fire, a Sidney Fire press release said.

On arrival, firefighters found a single-story, signal family residence with no fire showing. All occupants were out of the structure. Upon further investigation, an attic fire was found inside the structure.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the attic space of the residence. Smoke and water damage were noted inside the residence owned by Dylan and Christopher VanHorn.

Staffing was recalled to man the station. DP&L was called to the scene to secure the power to the building and Vectren to secure the gas.

The total loss amount to the property is undetermined at this time.

No one, including firefighters, was hurt during the fire.
