Foreclosure underway for old Wagner Foundry

SIDNEY — During the Shelby County Land Bank’s meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, Director Doug Ahlers announced the foreclosure process for Master Vision Polishing’s property (the old Wagner Foundry) is underway and is expected to be completed in early 2022. The cleanup process for the property is estimated at $4 million, and therefore, the Land Bank is seeking to work with Western Reserve and the Ohio Land Bank Association to acquire brown field funding.

Eight additional properties were also sent into foreclosure. The completed foreclosures include 216 Main St. in Port Jefferson (belonging to John Deeter), 411 Sixth St. in Sidney (belonging to C.W. and Robin Thomas), 120 W. Clay in Sidney (a lot), 302 Pike St. in Anna, 613 Fourth St. in Sidney (belonging to the late Jeffrey Wood), 736 N. Linden St. in Sidney (belonging to Angela White, et al), 16333 Staley Road in Botkins (belonging to Walter Moore), and 13749 Fort Loramie Swanders Road in Anna (belonging to Timothy Huddleston).

Property exchanges included one acquisition, one pending acquisition and one sale. One property, a vacant lot, was acquired from Clay Murphy at 219 Washington St. in Sidney and one new property (an empty lot), located at 120 W. Clay St. in Sidney, is in the process of acquisition as a donation from Betty Spurgeon. Four properties were sold. These included the public auction sale of 326 W. Park St. in Sidney, 322 N. Lane St. and 304 High St. in Port Jefferson, 12266 Short Drive at Filburn Island in Minster, and one property located at 323 S.h Miami Ave. in Sidney was donated to Holy Angels Catholic Church.

One house was demolished at 826 N. Main Ave. in Sidney.

The treasurer’s report showed a balance of $544.815.65, which included monthly revenues of $34,000.00 and $19,125.41 in expenses. There is also a loan of $200,000. New funding is not imminent, in part because the Land Bank is awaiting the Department of Development’s announcement about new funding scheduled for release in 2022.
