Sidney holds 92nd annual National Honor Society induction

SIDNEY – Sidney High School ushered in 34 new junior members and 4 new senior members to the National Honor Society during the 92nd annual induction ceremony on November 17.

To qualify for National Honor Society, students must have a 3.5 grade point average or better, provide service and leadership in both the school and community and be honest, responsible, fair, courteous, tolerant and cooperative.

The current NHS officers led the ceremony, speaking about the principles of the society. President Reagan Frank spoke about scholarship; Vice President Korah Hudson spoke about service; Secretary Katie Deal spoke of leadership; and Treasurer Sara Gumbert spoke about character.

Seniors inducted include Evan Kennedy, Andrew McLain, Joshua Pelealu and Ava Westfall.

Juniors inducted include Joe Asbill, Noah Baldauf, Andrew Bonifas, Alexandra Blatter, Anna Brady, Lexee Brewer, Cambry Cox, Alyssa Echols, Lainie Fair, Takuma Furukawa, Madison Garber, Chloe Graber, Chase Hall, Kennah Herrick, Norah Houts, Kendall Inman, Kathryn Leonard, Lainey Luginbill, Caleb Luthman, Shelbie Miller, Austin Mullennix, Cierra Mullennix, Dakota Mullennix, Jaycee Roach, Mason Rose, Raegan Rotan, Isabel Rice, Takuho Shibahara, Thomas Sibert, Connor Simpson, Alessandria Stockton, Ethan Weldy, Lily Wiford and Grace Work-Steenrod.

They join 35 active senior class members in the Kentinish-Rash-Shalom (Knowledge Breeds Peace) chapter.

The SHS NHS Faculty Council includes Chris Adams, Mitch Hoying, Mandy Gutman, Mike Keiser and John Young. Brett Bickel is the NHS adviser.
