SIDNEY — The city of Sidney honored 32 employees in December for their years of public service ranging from five years to 25 years.
“Last year the city decided to have the mayor along with the city manager and the department head travel to each facility and give individual recognition to those employees receiving a service award. It was received so well by the employee and their coworkers, the city decided to do it again this year,” said Human Resources Manager Holthaus in a city of Sidney press release.
“It’s so important to make sure each employee is truly recognized for their hard work and dedication to the city. We have some of the best employees here at the city,” Mayor Mardie Milligan said in the release.
“Since taking over as city manager, here in Sidney, it has warmed my heart by the acts of service presented not only today, but the length of fortitude described in so many of our outstanding employees. We truly have a group of rock stars working for Sidney, and I couldn’t be prouder of the men and women who tirelessly go above and beyond to keep the city moving forward,” City Manager Andrew Bowsher said in the release, when speaking about the act of being one team. “I’m blessed to be a part of this family, and I’m excited to continue this trend forward in the coming years!”
Council member, and previous Sidney mayor, Mike Barhorst said in the release, “We have tremendous employees who provide services to our community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The annual recognition of their occasionally heroic but often over-looked efforts has been one the highlights of my mayoral service.”
Milligan, Barhorst and Bowsher were accompanied by Holthaus, who made certain the employee awards were ready to be presented at each stop. In addition to the trio, the department head was also present at each stop to assist with the presentations.
The city annually presents employees with awards when they reach five year increments of service to the city. The presentations this year stretched over several days, so that employees working various shifts as well as those who were ill could be personally thanked. This year, the employees who received service awards are:
Five years of service: Adam Schulze, Derek Stitzel, Andrew Zumberger, Kyle Meyer, Collin Habel, Kathy Barhorst, Mitchell Perry, Derrill Davis, Steve Rhodes, Ron Schalow, Lawrence Murtz and Josh Wood
10 years of service: Cheri Epperson, Derek Richardson, Jeff Amick and Kim Bean
15 years of service: Ryan Heitman, Brian Paxton, Doug Dearinger, Angie Wooten, Jennifer Wagner and Renee DuLaney
20 years of service: Keith Wiley, Pae Cathcart, Jeremy Lorenzo, Andrew Shappie, Becky Musser and Gregg Mitchell
25 years of service: Chris Burmeister, Robert Jameson, Mike Rosengarten and Catherine Johnson
These employees recognized represented more than 400 years of service to the city of Sidney.
