CareFlight responds to crash

SIDNEY — Two Sidney juveniles were transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, and two other young people went to Wilson Health, after a single-vehicle crash on Knoop Johnston Road Monday night.

Deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched on the report of a crash with injuries in the 5000 block of Knoop Johnston Road at 7:50 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10. According to the crash report, Alyssa Faye Epley, 18, of Sidney, was traveling southbound on Knoop Johnston Road when she approached a curve in the roadway, went across the center of the road and over-corrected, sending the vehicle into a slide. Her vehicle then rolled over in the roadway, slid on its roof until leaving the road and sliding onto the western ditch, and then overturned again, ejecting front seat passenger, Davin Lee Meiring, 16, of Sidney. The vehicle then rolled once more, ejecting right, rear seat passenger, Riley Hughes, 14, of Sidney, and coming to a stop on the roof of the car facing the north.

Two CareFlight helicopters took Meiring and Riley to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Epley and her rear, left seat passenger, Dustin Eugene Hughes, 17, of Sidney, were taken to Wilson Health by Anna Rescue and Sidney Fire.

Port Jefferson and Sidney Fire Departments responded to the scene, along with medics from Anna, Port Jefferson, Sidney and Spirit.

Two CareFlight helicopters were called to a one vehicle crash on Knoop-Johnston Road. Four people were in the vehicle, two were ejected. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was called to the crash at 7:50 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10. One of the people involved in the crash walked to a nearby house for help when they couldn’t find a cell phone. Ambulances that responded were from Anna, Port Jefferson, Sidney and Spirit. Firefighters that responded were from Port Jefferson and Sidney.
