COLUMBUS — Students who are planning to attend college or a trade school in the fall, and are interested in one of more than 75 career fields available in the natural gas and oil industry, are invited to apply for a scholarship from the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) and the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation.

The window to apply for a $1,000 scholarship from OOGEEP is open now through March 1.

OOGEEP has awarded more than 567 scholarships to students since 2007. Past winners have represented more than 51 different colleges, universities, technical or trade schools, and include more than 59 different majors, degrees, or certificate programs.

To qualify for a scholarship, a student must be a U.S. citizen, have a career goal in the natural gas and oil industry, be an Ohio resident or attending an accredited Ohio college, university, technical or trade school, and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Students can learn more about the scholarship and apply at oogeep.org.
