J.F. Hickey was in Cincinnati Saturday to make arrangements for a special train from Sidney to Russia next Sunday to accommodate the large number of people from here who wish to attend the public installation of the new lodge of the Knights of St. John at the village. The arrangements were completed this morning.

Louis Kah Jr. went to Cleveland this afternoon to complete arrangements to have one of the finest horses in the United States in the free-for-all trot at the June races.

A meeting of citizens has been called for this evening at the room occupied by W.W. Masteller and S.E. Bower, on North Main avenue, for the purpose of selecting a committee to conduct the affairs of the Sidney Municipal Band for the season of 1922.

John F. Wintringham, of Turtle Creek township, has announced that he will be a candidate for clerk of courts, subject to the decision of the Democratic primary in August. A graduate of Sidney high school and Shelby County Normal school, he has been a teacher in Turtle Creek township for the past two years.

Operation of the bus line in the city of Sidney is now under the direction of the newly-formed Sidney Street Transit Inc., it was announced today by R.B. Niswonger, president and general manager of the firm which has taken over Ralph Given’s City Bus franchise temporarily. Associated with Niswonger are: Robert L. Cartwright, vice president; Kenneth L. Spinner, secretary-treasurer, and E.J. Garmhausen, counsel.

Miss Lucille Geuy will head the Business Girls Association during the coming year, re-named to that post during the annual election last evening. Serving with her will be Mrs. Leah Yates, vice president; Mrs. C.H. Roman, secretary; Miss Lela Shidaker, treasurer; Miss Norma Hutchison and Miss Mary Tompkins, trustees.

A quartet, composed of William Leighty, Richard Young, Greg Wilt and Roger McGee and accompanied by Mrs. Willis Harlamert, entertained for the mother-daughter banquet held by the Memorial United Methodist Church.
The covered dish supper was enjoyed in the Trinity Church of the Brethren. On the committee for the banquet were Mrs. John Smart, Mrs. Thomas Miller, Mrs. C.A. Fisher, Mrs. Lannace Strunk, Mrs. John Millhoff, Mrs. Richard Ward and Mrs. McGee.

Five Shelby County school districts were admitted to the proposed Miami-Shelby County Joint Vocational School Tuesday night in what was described as the most significant action taken since the district was formed two years ago.
Admitted to the two-county district were Anna, Fairlawn, Fort Loramie and Hardin-Houston local schools and the Sidney City School district.

ANNA – Tim Zimpfer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Zimpfer of Anna, was recently named winner of the 1997 DeKalb Genetics Corp. award which is presented to the outstanding senior agricultural student demonstrating superior scholarship, leadership and agricultural experiences.

James R. Bray of Sidney is richer today after claiming his $150,000 portion of Saturday night’s $1 million monthly drawing.
Bray told The Sidney Daily News he had his sister drive him to Dayton Tuesday afternoon to verify the winning ticket at the offices of the Ohio Lottery Commission. Bray said he was too nervous and excited to drive.
The 50-year-old man said he will use most of his winnings to pay bills accrued from treatments for a heart condition. He said he was diagnosed with the condition earlier this year.
