Fort Loramie was voted the No. 1 seed in the Sidney Division IV sectional for the sixth consecutive season and is hoping to earn its sixth consecutive district final berth.

Fort Loramie and Russia were voted the top two seeds in the sectional, while Sidney was voted the No. 4 seed in the Dayton Div. I sectional and Anna was voted the No. 5 seed in the Dayton D-III sectional.

Girls tournament draw meetings were held throughout the state on Sunday. Seed voting began online early last week and concluded on Saturday. Results were tallied in preparation for Sunday’s meetings, during which teams placed themselves on their sectionals’ brackets by seed order.

It’s the 11th time in 12 years the Redskins have been voted the Sidney D-IV sectional’s top seed.

The Redskins (18-1) and Russia (17-4) could meet in a regional semifinal if both squads win their first four tournament games. Fort Loramie won the squads’ first Shelby County Athletic League matchup 54-41 on Jan. 12; the second matchup is scheduled to take place Thursday in Russia.

Fort Loramie is scheduled to open tournament play on Feb. 11 against Fairlawn (1-18) and will face the winner of No. 6 Ansonia and No. 7 Troy Christian in a second-round game on Feb. 15. The Redskins will face either No. 5 Jackson Center (9-11), No. 9 Lehman Catholic (4-16) or No. 11 Bellefontaine Calvary Christian in a district semifinal on Feb. 20.

Russia is scheduled to open tournament play on Feb. 11 against Triad and will face No. 14 Bradford on Feb. 16. The Raiders will face either No. 3 Mississinawa Valley, No. 4 Botkins (11-8), No. 8 Riverside (5-14) or No. 10 Franklin-Monroe in a district semifinal on Feb. 20.

If Fort Loramie and Russia win their first three tournament games, they’ll play in district finals on Feb. 25. Russia will face a team from the bottom bracket of the Monroe Div. IV sectional, likely No. 1 Xenia Legacy Christian. Fort Loramie will face a team from the bottom bracket of the Versailles D-IV sectional, likely either No. 2 South Charleston Southeastern or No. 3 Covington.

Jackson Center and Lehman are scheduled to face off in a sectional opener on Feb. 11 at Sidney, and the winner will face Calvary Christian in a second-round game. The winner of the second-round game will advance to face Fort Loramie on Feb. 20.

Botkins will face Franklin-Monroe in a sectional opener on Feb. 13, and Riverside will face Mississinawa Valley the same night. The winners will play on Feb. 16 in a second-round game, and the winner of that contest will face Russia on Feb. 20.

All sectional and district semifinal games will be played at Sidney High School. District final games will be played on Feb. 25 at Troy High School.

If Fort Loramie and Russia advance, they’ll face off in a regional semifinal on March 2 at Vandalia-Butler High School.

Sidney voted No. 4 in Dayton D-I sectional

The Yellow Jackets (16-4) were voted the Dayton Div. I sectional’s No. 4 seed and opted to go in the sectional’s third bracket, which will be played at Vandalia-Butler’s Student Activity Center.

Sidney opted for a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 12 Xenia and No. 13 Troy on Feb. 13; the Yellow Jackets beat both squads in lopsided fashion in Miami Valley League play in regular season.

If victorious, Sidney will advance to a district semifinal on Feb. 16, likely against No. 6 Centerville. If Sidney wins the district semifinal, it will play in a district final on Feb. 25 at Cincinnati Princeton High School, likely against undefeated West Clermont.

Anna voted No. 5 in Dayton D-III sectional

The Rockets were voted the No. 5 seed in the Dayton Div. III sectional and opted to go in the sectional’s third bracket, which will be played at Northridge High School.

Anna (11-8) will open tournament play on Feb. 9 against No. 10 Brookville. If victorious, the Rockets will advance to a second-round game on Feb. 14 between the winner of No. 4 Milton-Union and No. 12 Arcanum. If the Rockets advance, they’ll play in a district semifinal on Feb. 18, likely against No. 1 Tipp City Bethel.

Houston (6-14) was voted the No. 13 seed and opted to play in the sectional’s second bracket, which will be played at Covington High School. The Wildcats will open tournament play on Feb. 11 against No. 7 Versailles (10-10); the winner will face No. 14 Indian Lake on Feb. 16. The winner of the second-round game will play in a district semifinal on Feb. 20, likely against No. 2 Miami East.
